Remembering Summer

Woods and Water 8"x10", oil on stretched canvas

The warmer weather today put me in mind of summer days...soon to be ours!  Well, not quite.  This little stream is probably quite frozen today.  But, our days are getting significantly longer and for that I am very grateful.  For now I can make due with these longer days, memories of time spent by a babbling brook and the happiness that comes with being in a warm place and painting!

Into the Woods

Tree Study 8"x10" oil on canvas

The effects of our very long autumn linger on.  Painting trees is always a challenge for me...how to give them individual character and to convey that they are really rooted in the ground.  I enjoy the play of shadows and light on the ground and on the trees.

Day 26: 30 Days 30 Paintings

Woods on Mount Royal, 6" x 8" oil on canvas board

Based on a photo I took on Mount Royal and inspired by my new Wolf Khan calendar.  He rocks colour - knows no fear!
